I know this is off-topic, but is the architect dictating such a large piece of glass?  4' x 12' ???  Encourage them to add a mullion, or something...  Sorry I can't provide anything wrt your query...

Dear list members:

I?m using ASTM E 1300-04 ?Standard Practice for Determining Load Resistance of Glass in Buildings?.
I am calculating the deflection for laminated glass ? two sheets of 6mm glass with a 1.52 PVB interlayer.
The window daylight opening is roughly 1230mm by 3700mm, and I?m calculating for a design load of 5.3 kPa.

My question is this:
Appendix X1, para X1.1.1 reads ?This procedure can be used for laminated glass under short-term loads using the laminated glass thickness designation.?
Following paragraph 3.2.3.2 (thickness designation for laminated glass) I get a minimum thickness for my glass as 11.91mm... And using these numbers with the method in X1 I get results that are identical to the typical method with single sheet glass ? not laminated glass!

I assume that I misunderstand X1.1.1, the ?laminated glass thickness designation?.
Anybody familiar with this who knows where I?m making a mistake?

Thanks a million,
John.
