Anyone: Per the 2003 IBC can sheetrock be used to brace buildings in
Seismic Design Category D? What values are supposed to be used? 03 IBC Table 2306.4.5 footnote a indicates “….Values
shown are for short-term loading due to wind or seismic loading in Seismic
Design Categories A, B and C…” 00 IBC Table 2306.4.5 footnote
a read “Values shown are for short-term loading due to wind or seismic
loading in Seismic Design Categories A, B and C. Values shall be reduced
by 50 percent in Seismic Design Category D….” 03 Table 1617.6.2 1. L still allows a height of 35
feet for light framed bearing walls braced with materials other than wood panel
but it looks like the gypsum shear values are no longer provided. Thanks. Scott |
