Actually, if you specify Grade 40 bars, what you are likely to be getting is either Grade 60 or Home Depot's finest (which I am not sure is certified to be anything.) Grade 40 is only marginally cheaper than Grade 60 (the cost straight from the mill) and is not very easy to find. It will end up costing the contractor more if it is not readily available, so they will end up using Grade 60. Grade 40 is still produced to a limited degree. If a contractor is building a swimming pool shaped like an artichoke and will need to do a lot of field bending, they may chase it down. Unless there will be a lot of field bending, or the steel is for something like break away dowels, they will probably just go with Grade 60.
