Excellent.

I'm already convinced. I have no doubt that your family business is
successful. Until I'm convinced otherwise I strongly doubt that
promotional ads touting glass containers had much to do with it.

>I doubt the Glass Container
>Industry would keep promoting a losing proposition.
That's not very persuasive...

>Worse, why hire an engineer to
>design a home in a high risk zone when the Architect can do it.
I don't understand what the problem is with simply enforcing existing
engineering laws. The two states I'm registered in are doing exactly
that. Check <http://www.state.mn.us/ebranch/aelslagid/enf.html#801.html>
and <http://www.fbpe.org/disaction/index.htm> If you have people
practicing engineering without a license, get 'em.

>The trouble is that many, like you, want numbers and without it will
>remain stagnant because they are afraid to change what is already in
>need of change.
Again--I'm not persuaded there's a need for change, and even if I were, I
wouldn't be persuaded that feel-good advertising will accomplish
anything. If what your after is to keep architects from practicing
engineering there's no reason to believe that they're going to stop
promoting themselves just because we don't like it. Machinery is already
in place to insure that only qualified engineers do engineering, and it's
far more effective than mimicking all the other info-mercials on TV
because it deals with the problem directly.
