Hi I am trying to assist a contractor who purchased 8x8 beams instead of the 8x12 beam called for in the design. Is it possible to add a 4x8 to the top of the 8x8 by gluing and bolting the two members together? Should the allowable flexural strength be reduced? Thanks for your help.
